In a plot to attempt to save Marie-Antoinette’s life back then in the middle of the French Revolution, pearls were smuggled out of France by Lady Sutherland, an English aristocrat, and have stayed in the Sutherland family ever since. These pearls were made into a stunning necklace utilising diamonds, rubies and other precious stones and the Sutherlands put it to the famous Christie’s auction house in London for sale at the guide price of $811,000 and $927,000. These historical pearls were made into a necklace in 1848 for the wedding of Lady Sutherland’s grandson and Christie’s were rather hoping that the Louvre museum in Paris just might have been interested.

After more than 20 years, the 3 surviving members of the well known and extremely popular rock band, Led Zeppelin have come together on the stage for charity purposes. Robert Plant’s voice is just as gritty and harsh as it always was, despite him now being in his 60’s and it would appear that the band itself is just as popular as it was back in the 70’s. More than a million faithful fans queued for hours in order to be there to watch these aging rockers sing Stairway to Heaven and A Whole Lot of Love with just as much verve and aplomb as when they were young, invincible and invulnerable.

This summer has been full of records when it comes to the box office and movies. Usually the summer is the top for movie making and bringing out movies for all the movie lovers. This summer has been record after record due to some of the top notch sequels coming out like Spider-man and Pirates of the Caribbean. With these top notch movies, it is no surprise that the box office made a record of $4 billion this summer. The previous record was 3 years ago at $3,95 billion. The reason why this really happened was because there were new movies put out each week during this summer. They weren’t just regular movies, but ones that featured some of the top actors and actresses, which really intrigued all movie goers. It even had some great movies come out in August, which is usually a down period for movie goers. I guess we will have to see next summer if the box office can beat this record.

Apparently excessive speed was the motive in a bad car accident that involved Hulk Hogan’s son, Nick. Hogans son is only 17 years old and drives a Toyota Supra and was speeding around Clearwater, Florida. The car apparently hopped over a median and hit a palm tree on the other side of the road. The car was totaled easily, but luckily no one died. Nick is in stable condition at the hospital, but his passenger is in critical condition. According to CNN, both the driver and passenger had to be pulled out by the fire department because the car was in such a mangled mess. At least no one was killed and we all hope that everyone comes out ok. It just shows what speed really can do!
