Geo X (Factor That Is)
Last night’s X-Factor was interesting to say the least and one of the most memorable, and perhaps stupidest moments, came from a guy named Geo, which shocked everyone and sent Paula Abdul running for the bathroom.
The internet blogger started out fine, telling the panel that he wrote songs and liked to sing and that he was going to croon them with a feel good song. And so he began singing a few bars badly, but I guess X-Factor has a rule about letting everyone have their full shot and not be interrupted and his voice wasn’t totally horrible. He then opened his silver jacket to reveal a rainbow shirt and that was a bit odd, but no one was concerned. But then he started singing about being naked and took his pants off. Now for those watching TV, there was an X-Factor logo covering his privates, so we didn’t see whether he had a g-string or something on, but all accounts seem to indicate that he was indeed naked for the studio audience.
And perhaps nothing indicated this more than the reaction on new judge Nicole Scherzinger (of which Geo was her first contestant) and Paula Abdul. Nicole just looked horrified, but was able to keep it together for the most part, telling him when he finished that she was traumatized and she wasn’t voting him to the next level. Paula, on the other hand, got physically sick at seeing his manhood and actually had to leave the set and find a bathroom. Ironically enough, the ladies room was occupied, so they let her use the men’s room to throw up in.
Other people in the audience also left, including one who had a young daughter.
Simon then asked him, “What the bloody hell was that?” Of which Geo replied, not seemingly aware that they meant his strip tease, that he had more songs. He seemed completely oblivious to the fact that he was naked on national TV. Simon then went on to say that he spent over 5 million dollars to bring the show to the US, and for what? A guy to drop his trousers? LA Reid also told him how offensive it was what he had done, but Geo still didn’t get it.
The act and the handling of it brought up a few questions. Did Fox do this in order to raise awareness of the show and thus let it go on so long? Is there something wrong with this Geo guy? And could their possibly be charges filed because he exposed himself to minors that were in the audience? As X-Factor is considered a family show.
Either way, it was a horrific way to get internet buzz, but the video had gone viral, but now seems to be removed from YouTube because of copyright, but it’s up other places as you can see above.
