Just days before his marriage date of August 8^th, 1997, Dodi Fayed dropped his drop-dead, gorgeous model fiancée like a ton of bricks and took up Princess Diana, who adored him, gave him her father’s last gift to her of his cuff links, and described the relationship in terms of ‘heaven on earth’. Kelly found out via a friend at 4 am in the morning where she was living in what was to be their marital home in Malibu. The best Dodi could do was tell her that they had ‘broken up’ 2 months ago.

Kelly Spencer was obviously distressed as she stood in the witness box and pointed out that there would be no reason for her to be in that awful position if it just wasn’t true. She also revealed that Dodi treated his staff like he was a dictator, pointing out that if Trevor Rees-Jones was driving too fast it would have been on Dodi’s orders, and that around his father he was like a little boy. The father, she said, was a monster and intended to put the fear of God into her if she didn’t now leave his little boy alone.
