Connie, the Russian Dog In a Million.
Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Sergey Ivanov, was proudly presenting the Russian President, Vladimir Putin with plans for launching three new navigation satellites. Proton-K, the Russian rocket is due to launch these satellites into orbit on 25th December, 2007, to facilitate Russia’s Glonass navigation system. This brings the total number of satellites up to 18 which map Russian territory. The plan is ultimately for 24 satellites. Mr Putin asked Mr Ivanov where he could get a similar system for his pet dog, Connie, so that she can’t wander too far astray.”
Belgium is literally divided linguistically and geographically and this is shown in its political structure. No single party has managed to bridge this gap between the two regions and traditionally, the Prime Minister has come from one of the majority Flemish parties as approx. 60% of the countries 10.5 million citizens live in Flanders.
