Beckham already on the Bench
When David Beckham came over to the US, everyone was really excited to have an international soccer star playing for the LA Galaxy. Supposedly, he has received an estimated $250 million for a 5-year contract to play over in LA. The only real issue is, where is the LA Galaxy getting the money to pay Beckham? No one really watches soccer in the US like we watch Baseball, football, basketball, and hockey. They pulled this publicity stunt in order to bring more hype to the already dragging sport. Since Beckham has started playing, he has only played for 6 games and scored 1 goal. Now he is supposedly out for 6 weeks.
In a game on Wednesday, Beckham pulled some ligaments in his knee and is on the bench for 6 weeks. This makes him eligible to play the last 3 games of the season if he gets well. This is a sudden blow to the team and the sport because all the hype has been destroyed. Beckham has been riddled with injuries since he arrived and no one has seen his true ability. I guess everyone will have to wait until next season to see the truth about Beckham’s abilities.
