Beckham already on the Bench
When David Beckham came over to the US, everyone was really excited to have an international soccer star playing for the LA Galaxy. Supposedly, he has received an estimated $250 million for a 5-year contract to play over in LA. The only real issue is, where is the LA Galaxy getting the money to pay Beckham? No one really watches soccer in the US like we watch Baseball, football, basketball, and hockey. They pulled this publicity stunt in order to bring more hype to the already dragging sport. Since Beckham has started playing, he has only played for 6 games and scored 1 goal. Now he is supposedly out for 6 weeks.
Are you ready for some Football? This weekend is the start of college football and millions of viewers will tune into as many games as they can get their hands on. The excitement builds as all the top conferences get ready to have their biggest games aired for all sports fans to see, well all but the Big Ten. The Big Ten has created its own football network that will air 400 live events this year, but the only problem is that they can’t sign a deal with the biggest cable providers in the region. Comcast and Time Warner are the cable giants for the Big Ten region and they refuse to sign the network to be included in their basic cable plan. This is going to be tough because the Big Ten will have games that include Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and Notre Dame. I am sure that there are many people that want to get on some of that action, but they cannot with their TV.
It looks like there has been a beef recall right before a great weekend of grilling. It appears to only be affecting the Pacific Northwest due to the brand, Northwest Finest. If you shop at Safeway, QFC, and Fred Meyer, then you need to check your beef to make sure that it is not contaminated. According to CNN reports, 9 people have already been affected, which has warranted the beef to be taken off the shelves.
